Weirdness in El Pais de Murdoch
This article contains the line 'In January 2000, al-Qa'ida tried and failed to attack the USS The Sullivans off Yemen'. Does the US Navy really have a vessel called The Sullivans? I hope so.
I heard a very intersting quote at the church we visited last Sunday, who has a significant role in supporting migrants in detention centres.
It's far more compellingly written than I can recall, but essentially it highlighted that if the US had been treated the way the way they have treated the middle east, they would indeed have grown to hate the middle east and made plans to kill them at every opportunity.
If you have not read or seen V for Vendetta (Alan Moore), then can I encourage you to do both. A stimulating and disturbing take on the nature of terrorism and at what point does someone use violence to resist oppression.
While the film has had to update for the 21st century, it did an admirable job of capturing the essence of Moore's narrative ('bullet time' knife fight aside).

I must confess I couldn't discern any difference in tone or vocabulary between Mr Olbermann and the right-wing rabid attack dogs whose rantings I more usually peruse. I read V for Vendetta back in the golden age, young Nato. I am keen to see the film eventually. "This is not anarchy. This is chaos."

You have very little affinity with Dr Clam. You are probably ?left-leaning? and unduly sentimental about polar bears and baby harp seals.
Oh, I am not. I see no difference in the clubbing of baby seals and the clubbing of adult seals. The arbitrary valuation of juvenile animals as of more value than adults because they look cuter is a form of social programming we should all resist.
