Where is the essence that was so divine?

Hey, apropos of nothing at all, it is seven years since I posted this link to my story, written some years before that, set in the Monastery. The Monastery is a milieu invented by Lexifab and Androoo that was the setting for Androoo's first NaNOWriMo novel - a work still unpublished and in hiding, alas. The Monastery is also the setting of this other excellent story.  Are there any others? Please let me know.

Like most of the products of our decadent culture, my story is chock full of jocular references to other ephemeral products of our decadent culture. But I am very fond of it irregardless. I commend especially the reference to 'Pascal's Wager'. Together with this piece of Cyberiad fanfic from the same period it is a fairly complete picture of turn-of-the-century Clam thought about life, the universe, and all that...

Occasionally I fantasise about instigating some new shared-universe project along the lines of the Monastery - with which, despite my involvement in its development, I never managed to engage all that strongly - or the Cyberiad. I do love collaborative fiction.

But I'm not a particularly gifted or motivated organiser, which is kind of where it falls down for me. I can easily get wrapped up in the development stage, but long-term sustained commitment to a project is...something I am still working on.

I've always loved that fish story though.

Aw, shucks! I'm glad you like the fish story. :)

Any shared universe ideas you are toying with, hmm? (Parenthetically I do still want to find out what was going on with Cameron the cursed hardware store owner. Do you fancy putting up a webpage for the New Salisbury Progress Association?)

In the spirit of shiny novelty, I'd just come up with something completely new. Besides, both the short-story-of-doom and my current novel-in-progress are both Sawl stories.

I am still broken up about losing the bulk of the Sounds of Lightning lexicon game though. That was a great collaborative piece, even if it died under the weight of the lexicon rules.

*Eagerly awaits new Sawl stuffs*

*Weeps for Sounds of Lightning*

I think that conversely to 'Sounds of Lightning' the 'Terra Altera' project perished of 'not enough rules'. It would be a place I would be keen to revisit...

What was that one again? I am having a blank moment.

Oh yes, I was thinking about that the other day. I had no idea that was what it was called (or no recollection at any rate)
